The government has finally revealed the official list of electric cars eligible for the new ecological bonus. Unsurprisingly, we find many European and French models in this listing.
As you may know, the ecological bonus must have a makeover from this Friday, December 15, 2023. With this new formula, the government’s helping hand will integrate the famous environmental criteria into its calculation, a measure designed to favor vehicles electrics manufactured in Europe and France.
For good reason, this environmental score must reflect the CO2 emissions generated by the manufacture of a vehicle. This rating will take into account:
- the model of the vehicle and in particular the number of seats
- the place of assembly
- the volume and weight of the materials used
- battery characteristics
- or the delivery and the distance traveled between the production site and the distribution location
“Until now, the State has not set any conditions on the manufacturing methods of vehicles purchased with the bonus. Hundreds of millions of euros of public money therefore went to vehicles with a very poor carbon footprint. From now on, it’s over. To be eligible for the bonus, an electric vehicle must have a limited environmental impact, during the manufacturing and transport stages. assures Bruno Lemaire, the Minister of Economy and Finance.

We finally know the list of cars eligible for the ecological bonus
And on this Thursday, December 14, 2023, the day before the new ecological bonus comes into force, the government has finally revealed the exhaustive list of eligible models. In total, we find in this listing no less than 22 different brandsamong major French manufacturers like Renault and Peugeot, European leaders like Fiat, BMW or even Mercedes and Volkswagen, but also Tesla to our great surprise (even if there is a justification for the presence of the American manufacturer).
Indeed, only the Tesla Model Y is eligible for the French ecological bonus. We suspect that these are only models manufactured on European territory, namely within the Berlin Gigafactory. In total and at the time of writing these lines, 78 electric cars are eligible. Here is the full list:

Note that some models on the list will also be eligible for social leasing at €100 per month. The government also formalized today the launch of this other flagship measure, in preparation for more than two years now. This is particularly the case for the Peugeot e-208, the Renault Twingo e-Tech, the Citroën ë-C4 and the Opel Mokka Electric.
