We have misused our eye care for years

We all know how to apply eye care. At least we thought so far. Dr. Georgia Lee, skincare expert and founder of DrGL, has taught us a lesson. That’s how it works.

Dabbing instead of rubbing. The fact that we ought to apply eye care exactly like that has burned into our brains. Of course that does not mean that we all stick to it. But now there is a whole new way to apply our eye care. At least, if Dr. Georgia Lee, founder of the Asian skincare brand DrGL (is exclusive to Douglas) goes. She told us in BRIGITTE interview how to do it right.

Eye Care: That’s how it works

Contrary to our expectations, the skin care expert from Singapore has recommended a completely new technique for applying eye care:

If the eye cream is to reduce swelling and dark circles, it should be applied in light strokes from the outer to the inner corner of the eye.

This means that we should work in the product in a kind of moving movement. Dr. Georgia Lee also advises using eye care on the eyelid. Because that too needs care and is far too often neglected. You’re probably wondering if it’s completely wrong to knock on the eye cream – as we’re used to. Very clearly: No! Impact is correct when eye care has an anti-aging effect.

If the product has a gel base or is supposed to counteract wrinkles, tapping can speed up the effect of the care.

Eye cream and sensitive skin

Good to know! Dr. Lee has also explained to us that no matter what job – knocking, pulling or smearing – the product always works. Sometimes more sometimes less. Either way, we should all avoid too aggressive or too strong application, because that can irritate the sensitive skin under the eyes super fast. Especially with sensitive skin you should consider that.

Wrongly apply eye cream: Dr. med. Georgia Lee

Anyone who quickly gets irritation under the eyes, should also apply the eye care after the day care. Especially if ingredients such as peptides or retinol are included. This alleviates the effectiveness of the care – and at the same time the irritation potential on the eye.
