Originally, two projects had been mentioned by Warner. The first will concern the character of the Penguin, played on screen by an absolutely unrecognizable Colin Farrell. A horror series in Arkham Asylum
The second spin off in development was to take place before the events of the film and focus on the Gotham police, portrayed as massively corrupt in the latter. Exit the intrigue around Gotham PD, already largely evoked in the series Gotham, the spotlight is now on Arkham Asylum, this prison specially designed for the most dangerous criminals in the city, where we meet a good part of the bestiary of the Batman universe. Inspiration is now more focused on “the horror“, with an asylum depicted as “a haunted houseby Reeves.
“The same way Gotham is a character in the movie, I really want Arkham to exist as a character.“, confided the director. A good way to use and introduce certain personalities well known to comic book fans and seen in the film. The new showrunner of this series should be Joe Barton, who worked on Invasion. With a lot of scenes, especially in the fights, reminiscent of Rocksteady’s Batman games, it is in any case not surprising that the universe of the masked vigilante is moving back to Arkham.
