We looked for the best fake fireplace between Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube

Even without a real fireplace at home, it is possible to create an atmosphere that comes close. Video sites offer several shows centered on crackling logs.

You do not have a hearth at home to light a fire there? You can always deceive with a high definition video and by turning the volume up (or almost). On SVOD sites like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video, there are programs showing, in front of the camera, crackling logs and colored flames. It’s very cozy.

Obviously, this content is appreciable on the big screen. Don’t watch them on your smartphone screen, especially if you plan to spend time in front of them or want to put a little atmosphere in your home. Stream them to your computer or TV. Handling is quite easy. At worst, ask your nephew or niece who knows.

And as a bonus, you will be entitled to our (obviously completely objective) opinion.

On Netflix, several chimney fire shows

Netflix has been offering shows featuring static fireplace fires for several years. There is the classic version of the program, a variation with birch wood (yes, yes!), a mini-series of three episodes and even a variant with the atmosphere of Kaer Morhen, the haunt of witchers in the universe. of The Witcher. Because why not.

Our opinion : transparent casting on the screen, poverty of the dialogues, lack of imagination as for the realization. It was going badly. On the contrary, the sound design is superb. The light is very successful and the camera does not shake. Uneven production, but suitable for a flaming log.

Our Rating : ????

On Disney+, Arendelle Castle Yule Log

The kingdom of Arendelle is the name of the domain in which the action of Snow Queen. It is obviously very cold there and we also warm ourselves over a wood fire. Disney therefore had the idea of creating a program called Arendelle Castle Yule Log for Disney+. It’s the same principle as Netflix, but with the magical world of Disney, all in cartoon form.

Our opinion : if you like Snow Queen, you’ll love it. But if your child has definitely vaccinated you from the cartoon by screaming Freed, Delivered at the top of your voice, you might smash your screen in a panic. Admittedly, there is Olaf who pops a head from time to time, but given the character, we would almost throw him into the fire directly. In addition, the fire is a little small, in this large setting.

On Amazon Prime Video, the chimney fire…requires…a…VPN

Amazon Prime Video also has its program. It even lasts ten hours, where the duration at Netflix and Disney + is one hour. Problem: this program is not available in France. You can trick and go through a VPN to fake a connection from the US, but it might be a lot of effort to just see a video of the log burning.

Our opinion : not evaluated. The magic of Christmas on Amazon Prime Video obviously stopped at the threshold of certain considerations that are beyond us at the end of the year. Geographical restrictions definitely don’t stick too much with the “Christmas spirit”. What about paying a VPN to watch a video of the log burning? Even for a NordVPN sponsor, it’s no.

On YouTube, dozens (hundreds?)

And then there is YouTube. No need to draw you a picture: it is undoubtedly the video hosting service that hosts the most content around fireplaces. In 2K, in 4K, in 1080p, with a neat decor or not, with a large zoom on the logs, the charcoals and the ashes. There is something for everyone. Just search.

Our opinion : amateur content is quite capable of matching the biggest Hollywood productions in terms of chimney fires captured on video. Well, there are also great disasters on YouTube. That’s the magic of user-generated content. You never know what you’re going to stumble upon. Exactly like boxes of chocolates.

Our Rating : ? if you’re not lucky. ?????? if you’re lucky.
