Julien Bayou was the guest of Europe 1 this Friday morning. At the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko, the national secretary of EELV advocated the establishment of a climate ISF for the ultra-rich. This tax would contribute to the fight against climate change.

Julien Bayou wants the ultra-rich to participate in the fight against global warming by getting their hands on the wallet. Invited to Europe 1 this Friday morning, the national secretary of EELV has indeed advocated the establishment of a climate ISF.

“Decarbonizing finance”

“We are for the fact that the ultra-rich are finally contributing their fair share to the effort to deal with this climate crisis,” said Julien Bayou. According to him, the only way to involve the ultra-rich in the ecological transition is the climate ISF. The environmental candidate for the presidential election Yannick Jadot proposes this climate ISF to “decarbonize finance”. The idea is therefore to restore an ISF which would be indexed to greenhouse gas emissions. “We combine this ISF with taking into account the effects on the financial investment climate”, explains Julien Bayou on Europe 1.

The national secretary of EELV takes the example of “investments which allow to build ports or coal installations”. These installations must be “more heavily taxed because in fact, ultimately, they weaken us all”, underlines Julien Bayou for whom we are “very far from taking the necessary measures” to fight against global warming.

“Macron looks elsewhere”

“It’s a common challenge. And we don’t do what is necessary. A bit like in the movie don’t look up on Netflix. You have the science that says watch out, there is a meteorite. The meteorite is climate change. You have the ecologists who say to listen to science and take the necessary measures, like Yannick Jadot. And then you have editorialists who make jokes and, a president, Emmanuel Macron who looks elsewhere.
