Marie-Sophie Lacarrau finally broke the silence in an interview granted to the Parisian. The journalist, who became a star of the 1 p.m. news from TF1 after the departure of Jean-Pierre Pernaut, announced her return on Monday May 16 at the head of the newspaper, after having battled against a serious eye infection. The public will therefore find the journalist after five months of absence ensured in the interim by Jacques Legros. During this convalescence, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau was forced to rest. But she made an exception on March 9, for the funeral of Jean-Pierre Pernaut.
On March 2 the news falls. Jean-Pierre Pernaut died at the age of 71. A brutal disappearance after a fight against cancer. Adored and admired by many colleagues and politicians, the journalist had taken an important place in the heart of Marie-Sophie Lacarrau, whom he had trusted to take over from the news he had embodied for more than thirty years. Before his death, the two friends had even planned to meet again.
“I had exchanged messages with him at the beginning of January. We said then that we would have lunch together when we were both better. For me, he was invincible. He seemed to think he would have the upper hand, he was full of energy and could joke around“, she reveals modestly in her interview with the Parisian. Marie-Sophie Lacarrau will never have had the opportunity to see Jean-Pierre Pernaut again.
It was therefore logical for her to be present at the last goodbye, with other stars of the channel such as Harry Roselmack, Anne-Claire Coudray or Gilles Bouleau: “I had to go to his funeral. Just like the day of the announcement of his death, I immediately came to find the 1 p.m. team who were preparing the complicated newspaper for the next day. We needed to be together. We had to pay Jean-Pierre this tribute.” His return to TF1 on May 16 will be all the more symbolic.
