Samsung invited us to discover the Galaxy Book4 Edge, its laptops featuring Qualcomm’s ARM Snapdragon X Elite processors. These Copilot+ PCs, as Microsoft calls them, were presented at the same time as the Surfaces and therefore a little overshadowed by the Seattle models. The opportunity for us to come back to the three variations in detail.

One 14 inch and two 16 inch

The Galaxy Book4 Edge 14, 16 and 16 Pro all have a very similar aluminum chassis with a unique Glacier Gray color. This chassis is not identical to that of the Galaxy Book4 that we recently tested: we note a narrowing after the connector part, which gives an extremely fine point. Thus the 14 inch is announced for a thickness of 10.9 mm and 1.16 kg, compared to 12.3 mm and 1.54 kg for the 16 inch excluding the non-slip pads. For comparison, an Apple MacBook Air 13 measures 1.13mm high and weighs 1.24kg and the MacBook Air 15 measures 1.15mm and weighs 1.51kg.

The shape of the chassis contributes to the slim effect of the GalaxyBook4 Edge 14.

The Edge 14 and 16 models have several points in common, starting with their processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon This processor is accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Finally, unlike the rest of the Galaxy Book4, wifi 7 is included with Bluetooth 5.4.

On the screen side, Samsung is renewing its 14 and 16 inch Oled panels displaying 2880 x 1800 px at 120 Hz, all with a touchscreen overlay. The maximum brightness is announced at 400 cd/m², a correct value for indoor use, but too low outdoors, especially with a panel with a glossy finish.

The 16-inch differs from the 14-inch by a USB-A port and a microSD reader.

The connectivity is made up of two USB4 ports, an HDMI 2.1a port and a headphone jack for the Edge 14; the Edge 16 has a USB-A port and an additional microSD card reader.

A word on autonomy, which promises to be particularly significant: 22 hours according to Samsung for the 16-inch model (61.8 Wh). The 14-inch model should come close to the 20-hour mark with its 55.9 Wh battery.

AI at every level

Of course, the Galaxy Book4 Edges are Copilot+ certified with their Snapdragon X Elite which has an NPU (core dedicated to AI) of 45 TOPS (40 TOPS required). They are therefore entitled to the latest developments from Microsoft with Co-Creator or the much-maligned Recall function.

Samsung is also looking at its ecosystem; we will thus find the usual collection of applications from the South Korean manufacturer, but also Galaxy AI from a smartphone of the brand (S24 minimum). This will allow you to benefit from other AI functions in the Android universe such as Circle to Search.

Our handling allowed us to appreciate the quality of Samsung’s chassis, as on the other Galaxy Book4s. We were pleasantly surprised by the thinness of the 14 inch. However, we will have to wait until June 18 to evaluate the performance of the machine, everything being under embargo until that date by Qualcomm and Microsoft.

The Galaxy Book4 Edge is already available on the market. The 14-inch is priced at €1799, or €100 less for the same model in Core Ultra from Intel. You will have to pay €100 more for the 16-inch and no less than €2,099 for the 16 Pro, which has a 1TB SSD and a Snapdragon X Elite in its most efficient version.
