Xiaomi has announced the release of its new connected watch in France, the Redmi Watch 4, a watch equipped with an Oled screen, GPS and the HyperOS system for less than 100 euros.
As expected, Xiaomi unveiled its new Redmi range this Monday, almost two months after the announcement of the new devices in China. On the program, two pairs of Redmi Buds 5 and Buds 5 Pro headphones, five new Redmi Note 13s, but also a new Xiaomi-branded connected watch, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 4.
A well-made Oled screen
Like the previous watches in the Redmi range, this Redmi Watch 4 has a rectangular screen. We will therefore logically find a format quite close to that of the Apple Watch, especially with the rotating crown present on the side. The watch also displays fairly curved lines with a slightly rounded case and equally rounded corners at the four corners of the screen.
On the display side, Xiaomi’s new entry-level watch offers a 1.97-inch diagonal Oled panel with an adaptive refresh rate of 5 to 60 Hz, a maximum brightness of 600 cd/m² and a resolution of 390 x 450 pixels. This indicates a density of 302 pixels per inch which is sufficiently comfortable to view the watch without being bothered by pixels visible to the naked eye.
A watch under HyperOS
The Redmi Watch 4 is also the first Xiaomi watch to natively embed the manufacturer’s new system, HyperOS. In fact, however, the system is very close to the ZeppOS interface used until now by Xiaomi.
It will thus be impossible to install third-party applications with the exception of the watch faces offered. The watch therefore relies mainly on natively integrated functions such as sports management with more than 150 exercises offered.
A GPS watch suitable for training
For sport, the Redmi Watch 4 is equipped with a heart rate monitor and a pulse oximeter to measure both heart rate and SpO2. It will also be able to track sleep, stress and allow monitoring of the menstrual cycle. In addition, the watch is equipped with a GPS chip to find the precise track and distance of your workouts, with GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS and Beidou compatibility. Still regarding connectivity, the Redmi Watch 4 is compatible not only with Bluetooth 5.3, but also with Wi-Fi 4. It will also allow you to make Bluetooth calls using a microphone and a speaker, and to interact with the Amazon Alexa assistant. If Xiaomi communicates on the presence of an NFC chip, we still do not know if contactless payment will be included, in the absence of partnership with banking organizations.
Finally, for autonomy, the Redmi Watch 4 connected watch is announced with a 470 mAh battery which should offer up to 20 days of use. Obviously, this autonomy will depend on the activation of always-on mode, the different health sensors or the use of GPS.

The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 4 is available in black or light gray, priced at 99 euros in France. The connected watch will soon be tested on Frandroid.
