Republican Right Expects Key Positions in the Assembly

In return, the Republican Right expects key positions in the National Assembly. “Our votes were essential, it’s true, and we are weighing in to obtain a certain number of responsibilities within the National Assembly,” confirmed Annie Genevard, who is aiming for the first vice-presidency of the Assembly.

The group also hopes to win the presidency of the Finance Committee, which is traditionally the opposition’s. “Let’s be realistic, if tomorrow Les Républicains had the presidency of the Finance Committee, I think it would be much preferable to Mr Coquerel of La France Insoumise,” she said.

On Europe 1, Annie Genevard stated that her party would not enter the government and would not form a coalition. “We are an opposition party and we will weigh on the choices made during this mandate. Given the situation, we are not entering the government but we are putting a legislative pact on the table […] “This is an unprecedented situation that requires us to work differently,” she concluded.
