Just a few days ago, North Korea said it tested a warhead for a cruise missile and anti-aircraft missiles. Now South Korea is reporting new weapons tests by its northern neighbor.

North Korea has fired at least one ballistic missile, according to the South Korean military. The missile flew east toward the sea between the Korean peninsula and Japan, the General Staff in Seoul said.

No further information is available yet. North Korea is prohibited by UN resolutions from launching ballistic missiles of any range. Depending on the design, such rockets can also be equipped with a nuclear warhead.

Despite international sanctions, the largely isolated country continues to test nuclear-capable missiles as well as other weapon systems. According to its own information, it last tested a warhead for a strategic cruise missile and anti-aircraft missiles on Friday.
