Wearing a mask is compulsory, the fine will be 135 euros

From this Monday, July 20, 2020, wearing a mask will be compulsory in all enclosed public places in France. The Ministry of Health announced that the fine would be 135 euros in the event of an infraction.

From Monday July 20, wearing a mask will be compulsory in all enclosed public places. The Ministry of Health has just announced that in the event of non-compliance with the rules the fine will be the same as that currently applied in public transport, i.e. 135 euros. Unannounced checks will be carried out to encourage the population to respect the rule.

Wearing a mask is already compulsory in Mayenne following an upsurge in contamination. The 135 euros were therefore already in force since this week in this department of the Pays de la Loire region. In Belgium, non-compliance with wearing a mask is also punished by a fine which however amounts to 250 euros. The British have taken similar measures by setting a penalty at 110 euros.

The decree listing precisely where to wear a mask is expected for this Tuesday, July 21. The Minister of Health, Olivier VĂ©ran, has already put forward some ideas. Wearing a mask should therefore be compulsory in shops, supermarkets, covered markets, banks, covered parking lots, businesses and museums in addition to public transport, performance halls, nursing homes, bars and restaurants. This measure could also be implemented in places of worship and covered sports establishments.

In shops, from small shops to shopping centers, "a customer who does not want to put on a mask will not be able to enter", has already warned Jacques Creyssel, general delegate of the trade and distribution federation.

Last week, several renowned doctors signed a platform so that the government makes the wearing of masks compulsory in all enclosed public places. Face masks are one of the most powerful weapons for protecting yourself and fighting the spread of the new coronavirus, Covid-19. All assured that "tomorrow's second wave is brewing today". To protect yourself as well as possible, the best means are wearing a mask, physical distancing as much as possible, and washing your hands.
