UDisturbed weather will affect western Brittany on Friday and Saturday, December 31, bringing significant accumulations of rain, particularly in Finistère and Morbihan. Météo-France has therefore placed these two departments on orange rain-flood vigilance until Saturday midnight. Major floods are also expected on the Finistère rivers of the Laïta and the Odet. The department goes into raw orange vigilance.

The uncertainties relate mainly to the duration of the rainy episode, which should last until Saturday at midday at least and perhaps beyond, as well as to the reaction of the rivers. Indeed, the soils are currently saturated in western Brittany. Météo-France therefore invites to monitor a possible raw vigilance.

Finally, special attention will have to be paid to the strengthening of the wind on Friday morning first, then on Saturday. These rains will be accompanied by strong south-westerly winds as well as strong waves on the coast of southern Finistère and western Morbihan. The combination of strong winds and soil saturated with water could facilitate the uprooting and falling of trees.
