Weather forecast: a lot of rain and a little snow

Lhe weekend will be rainy. According to Météo-France, the weather for this Saturday, January 8 is mainly dominated by one parameter: rain. The whole of France should be crossed by a very active rainy front. In Île-de-France, in the Center, in Burgundy, in Auvergne and in Occitanie, these rains should be fine but continuous.

In the afternoon, the phenomenon will be even more important, especially in the north-western quarter: the rains continued and a serious wind should pick up. In general, the gusts will reach 70 to 80 km / h inland, with some peaks at 90 km / h in Brittany, Normandy or the Pays de la Loire. On the other hand, the wind can go up to 100 or 110 km / h on the coast of the English Channel.

Previously, the snow disturbance will continue to progress by crossing Alsace, Franche-Comté and Rhône-Alpes during the night, locally giving a layer of 5 to 10 cm near the northern borders. The departments of Meurthe-et-Moselle (54) and Moselle (57) are vigilant for this snowy event which will end in the early morning. After it quickly evacuates beyond our borders, the skies will often remain heavy over most of the country.

The limit between rain and snow will rise again at midday to around 1,300 m in the Pyrenees, 800 m in the Massif Central, 500 m in the Massifs de l’Est. This rainy episode will then sweep almost the whole country over the course of the evening and first part of the following night, with gusts of wind over the whole of the northern half. Only the Mediterranean rim will stay away from precipitation, even benefiting from a rather pleasant day.

From a temperature point of view, the lows will generally be less cold than the previous days. We will generally have 0 to 2 degrees in the East, 2 to 6 in the West, and around zero degrees in the east of the Massif Central. The maximum will reach 6 to 9 degrees north of the Seine, 8 to 11 north of the Loire and 10 to 13 degrees south.
