Weather: new flood vigilance for Pas-de-Calais and snow will make a return in many departments: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

The department of Pas-de-Calais is once again placed on orange alert for flood risks, Sunday November 26, 2023, as reported Meteo France. “The cumulative rains of recent weeks have caused a significant flood on the Canche, the trend of which is decreasing this Sunday”, thus recalled the weather forecasting organization. Indeed, on the night of November 26 to 27, a new rainy episode is expected “with uncertainties regarding its location and intensity”. If the entire department has been placed on orange alert, it is because the level of the Canche and the Course could rise again and perhaps overflow. While a decline has started since Wednesday November 22 on all the waterways of Pas-de-Calais, these new bad weather forecasts could call everything into question. Since November 6, some of the inhabitants of Pas-de-Calais have lived with their feet in the water. The department experienced historic floods which caused significant damage.

The forecast snow should not stick to the ground

If rain is therefore forecast in the North, other departments could well wake up to snow. While autumn has been rather mild so far, the cold fell on France. Still according to Météo-France, snow is forecast at low altitude and even in the plains from the North-East to the Alps for the day of Monday November 26. Thus, the sectors of Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Haute-Marne will be concerned. Snowflakes are announced in Metz, Toul and Chaumont. Nevertheless, the snow should not stay on the ground since the temperatures should remain in the positive. For the night of November 27 to 28, the depression bringing snow should slide towards the Jura. “The snow which may have initially held in the plains of Lorraine risks melting due to the air being a little too mild (although the temperatures forecast are around 0-1°C)”can we read on the specialized site Tameteo. A little later in the week, snow is forecast in Doubs and the Territoire de Belfort.
