VFriday June 24, showers will follow one another in the morning from Occitania to the North-East. Thunderstorms will break out on the eastern side of the country in the morning. These stormy showers can be strong from the lower Rhône valley to the Alps and the Jura from midday. They will be accompanied by hail and gusts of wind. In the afternoon, the weather will remain agitated from Provence to Alsace-Lorraine with many stormy showers. A lull will be felt in the evening. On the shores of the Mediterranean, only a few showers will be possible.
On the western half, showers in places thundery will occur. On the Atlantic coast, the sky will be variable. In Brittany, a new morning disturbance will give rainy weather. These rains will extend from the Pays de la Loire to Normandy, while sunny spells will return in the afternoon on the tip of Brittany. The minimums will be between 13 and 17 degrees in general, 18 to 22 degrees on the shores of the Mediterranean. The maximum will show 18 to 21 degrees over Brittany, 22 to 26 degrees over the country, up to 26 to 30 degrees in the South-East.
At 1 a.m., Friday June 24, Météo-France placed 7 departments on orange alert for the risk of thunderstorms. These are Tarn, Aveyron, Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie. The Ardennes, Aube, Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Bas-Rhin and Yonne have been downgraded to yellow vigilance. Storms can be locally violent, they can be accompanied by hailstorms, gusts of wind of around 70 to 90 km/h, even very locally around 100 km/h or more. In addition, Météo-France predicts “high intensities of rain, of the order of 15 to 30 mm in a short time, or even 30 to 50 mm very occasionally over the entire episode”.
