Weather: two departments on the alert orange snow ice


A notable snowy episode is expected in the far north of the country, this Wednesday, March 8, by Météo-France, which has placed the Nord and Pas-de-Calais on alert.

Isnow is expected along the northern borders. Also, Météo-France has placed the Nord and Pas-de-Calais on orange snow-ice vigilance this Wednesday, March 8. In question, a disturbance which crosses the country and gives snow in the morning from Nord-Pas-de-Calais to the north of Lorraine. Around 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected along the northern borders, which started to fall overnight and continued until mid-morning.

Everywhere else, it will rain with fairly strong southwesterly winds, with gusts around 70 km / h. The gusts will reach 110 km / h on the tip of Cotentin in the afternoon and 90 to 110 km / h on the Corsican capes.

Note that in the morning these rains will be sustained mainly north of the Seine or towards the Lot. During the day, they will become so from Cotentin to the northern borders, as from Brittany to Charentes, northern Gironde and Cantal.

Snow expected in Savoie and the Hautes-Alpes

It will snow in the morning around 1,800 meters in the Savoies and 900 meters in the Hautes-Alpes, then around 2,000 meters in the afternoon in the Savoie.

Only the Mediterranean shores will be an exception with weather that will remain dry and sunny all day.

Minimum temperatures will not exceed 0 to 3°C along the northern borders, 4 to 10°C elsewhere. The highs will be on the rise: mild for the season with 12 to 17°C from north to south up to 19/20°C along the Pyrenean foothills.
