Web3 comes on German television

The German TV broadcaster Sport1 has announced a cooperation with the blockchain-based crowd and fanbase management ecosystem Starzz. Sport1 wants to advertise the crypto project both on TV and across media with a wide reach. How from the press release of July 4th, both partners are also developing new approaches in the Web3 area. Users of the platform should, for example, decide on the jersey of a football club with exclusive voting rights.

Since both companies focus on sports and entertainment, the cooperation is ideal for developing new use cases based on blockchain technology. Matthias Reichert, CCO and member of the management of Sport1 GmbH, explains to BTC-ECHO:

We see sport as the ideal translator of technical possibilities into concrete and functioning use cases. Together with Starzz, our goal is to generate added value and thus acceptance among our users. The cooperation is based on three pillars: In addition to the media volume, we want to create common products and areas of application for Web3 technology and unite strategic partners in a network.

Sport1 wants to implement the next project for the start of the Bundesliga – August 18, 2023 – it’s called “My Greatest Moments”. In it will be the greatest Career Highlights some football legends, including Stefan Effenberg, Andreas Brehme and Mario Basler, into digital collectibles. “In addition, we are currently working on another Web3 project on the subject of darts,” as Reichert emphasizes when asked.

Sport1 Partner for Web3: This is how Starzz works

Similar to the NFT project Sorare, Starzz wants to improve the relationship between so-called “champions” – such as clubs, athletes or celebrities – and their communities. This should work via the Supporterzz.com platform, which advertises “unique services for the ultimate fan experience”. The launch is planned for December 2023.

Special champion tokens allow fans to acquire exclusive voting rights in star-run polls. This can range from choosing a football club’s jersey for the following season to determining the tracks on a musician’s “best of” album, the statement said. In addition, Starzz is planning its own utility token (SRZ). According to the site the private sale has already been completed. The Starzz team keeps around 12 percent of the 3 billion SRZ tokens.

In addition, there are already preliminary contracts with selected champions, which will only be announced when the platform is launched, according to Marco Kowalewski, founder of Starzz LLC, to BTC-ECHO. The goal is 18 champions – they are currently on course.
