Webcam filmed perpetrators – vandals destroyed giant Easter eggs in Klagenfurt

It’s getting warmer, the plants are beginning to bloom and the colorful giant Easter eggs in Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, bring a lot of joy to passers-by – because Easter is not far away! But apparently not everyone is enjoying the lovingly designed Easter market – unknown vandals intentionally damaged the eggs…

It was probably blind destructiveness that motivated the unknown perpetrators to cause such damage on Sunday night – several of the colorful Easter eggs on Klagenfurt’s Neuer Platz were knocked over, some of them have scratches, abrasions and holes. And that, although the “largest Easter basket in the world” was only opened a few days ago.Webcam images filmed perpetratorsAccording to the first information, the vandals are likely to have struck twice: The giants are both on Friday night and on Saturday night – Easter eggs knocked over. The webcam at Neuer Platz recorded this. Further images from the surveillance camera are still being evaluated. The city of Klagenfurt is also calling on passers-by to email them with information if they have seen anything. “Condemn acts of destruction in the strongest possible terms” Klagenfurt’s mayor Christian Scheider is shocked: “We will do everything to ensure that the eggs are repaired as quickly as possible.” The city is trying very hard to set up a great Easter program – it is regrettable , when strangers indiscriminately cause such damage. Scheider: “We can only condemn such acts of destruction in the strongest possible terms. However, we will not let this discourage us and will continue to uphold the tradition.”
