The TV experiment failed: the “marriage at first sight” stars Cindy and Alex have split up. The dome show candidate now announces this on Instagram.
In “Marriage at First Sight” singles exchange vows without even having met before. Cindy, 33, and Alex Riedel, 33, also took part in the unusual experiment. The two celebrated their first wedding anniversary on July 8, 2020. The couple even wanted to marry a second time, talked about family planning. To prove to all the skeptics that she’s serious about Alex, Cindy even got a tattoo. Cindy’s thighs are adorned with the letters “HADEB”, the abbreviation for “marriage at first sight”, as well as the couple’s motto of getting to know each other: “Searched, but not found”. But the happiness in love did not last. Now the dome show candidate has announced the marriage with a wedding photo on Instagram.
“Marriage at first sight” – Cindy did not arrive
The statement by the 33-year-old says: “Sometimes you want so much and fight with all your energy that you lose sight of yourself,” she writes, continuing: “And so one day I had to admit to myself that unfortunately I didn’t arrive.” Nevertheless, Cindy does not regret any of the experiences she had together with Alex. The two seem to be on good terms. “We are grateful for the time together, that we were allowed to go together,” she emphasizes in the post.
The couple even wanted to marry a second time
The Essen native and the former bachelor candidate were immediately enthusiastic about each other right after the first eye contact – but despite great feelings, there were initially dark clouds in the love sky: During their honeymoon in Bali they had arguments again and again. The question of housing also posed a conflict, as Alexander was living in Essen and Cindy in Berlin at the time. Moving seemed out of the question for neither of them. In the end, however, the couple was able to overcome all obstacles. In the final episode of the sixth season of Marriage at First Sight, Alex even proposed to his wife to marry her a second time. Their second wedding was set to take place in the summer of 2021. Nothing will come of it, because now both want to try a new start – but each for themselves.
