Ludwig Prince of Bavaria beamed with his bride Sophie-Alexandra and the sun.

In Germany, the monarchy has long been abolished, but there was still some royal wedding flair on May 20th in Munich. Ludwig Prince of Bavaria, 40, said yes to his Sophie-Alexandra, 33, about five months after the civil wedding. The prince is the great-great-grandson of the last Bavarian king, Ludwig III. His wife can now print Princess Sophie-Alexandra of Bavaria on her business card.

Pictures from the wedding show the 33-year-old in a white wedding dress with a long train and sleeves decorated with lace. In addition to happiness in love, the newly married couple was also kind to the weather gods. Best conditions for the mountain riflemen, traditional costume clubs, a total of around 1,000 wedding guests and the numerous flower children.

Party at Nymphenburg Palace

They were married by Archbishop Cardinal Marx, 69, and the wedding guests included Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder, 56, and ex-Defense Minister Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg, 51, as well as members of various aristocratic houses. The wedding party is currently taking place at Nymphenburg Palace.

There was a moment of shock shortly after the vows in the Theatinerkirche in Munich. The bride suffered a fainting spell, according to the administration of the House of Wittelsbach. After a short break and a drink, the 33-year-old was well again.
