“Wednesday” on Netflix: Escape from Nevermore – Season 2 finally shows us the Addams mansion!

• Wednesday Addams brought chaos to Nevermore Academy in Season 1 of the Netflix series.
• Season 2 will finally take Wednesday home as well.
• This is how we experience the whole Addams family in the famous mansion.

Every 30 years, the Addams Family returns to the scene. The 1930s saw the light of day for the Addams’ in comic strips, followed by the famous TV series in the 1960s and then the 90s saw two successful films starring Christina Ricci – and a weaker home theater sequel.

A new animated film was released in 2019 and a second part two years later, but the Addams hype only returned with “Wednesday” on Netflix. With the focus on the only daughter of the Addams family, a new generation got to know the morbid clan and Netflix was richer by a hit series.

For the first time, the Addams’ were not shown in their usual surroundings. So far, all Addams Family productions have at least partly taken place in the Addams’ magnificent mansion, but “Wednesday” instead showed everyday life at Nevermore Academy. That should change in Season 2!

Wednesday is coming home

Anyone who only got to know the Addams family through “Wednesday” will certainly want to know more about Wednesday’s environment and family life, fans of the earlier films long for more scenes with the entire Addams family anyway. Of course, director Tim Burton knows that too, which is why the second season of “Wednesday” will expand the scope of the story.

This has now been confirmed by costume designer Colleen Atwood, who spoke to Variety about her work on the new episodes of the hit series. She promised:

In Season 2 will [Morticia] have many different looks. So it’s going to be really fun to see what Morticia does once she’s out of the dress and into her home clothes.

This definitely confirms that we will see Morticia in the Addams mansion as well. So, presumably, Wednesday is returning home, which will finally bring us to the Addams’ normal family routine.

But it will be many months before that happens. The writers’ and actors’ strike is currently holding up the shooting of the second season of “Wednesday”, so the new episodes on Netflix are not expected to start until autumn 2024 at the earliest.
