Wednesday on Netflix: this actor shaved his head just for one episode

Despite only appearing in one episode of “Wednesday,” Fred Armisen took his role as Foul Uncle to heart by shaving his hair to look like his character.

In its episode 7, the Wednesday series welcomes another member of the Addams family: Uncle Fetid. Portrayed by Christopher Lloyd in Barry Sonnenfeld’s films in 1991 and 1993, he is played here by Fred Armisen, comedian and humorist known for the show Saturday Night Live. On screen, the actor has fun and doesn’t do things by halves.

While he only appears in one episode, Fred Armisen accepted the creators’ request: to shave his head. Usually, for such a short duration, actors often resort to a fake latex skull to create the illusion.

The whole team did an amazing job with the makeuprecognizes the interpreter in the columns of Vanity Fair. I didn’t even have eyebrows. They put prostheses on top to give me this look. Fake skulls don’t always work, so shaving my hair allowed me to be more convincing.”

Series showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough say Fred Armisen was their first choice. They reveal in particular that thanks to Tim Burton, they were able to have all the actors they wanted: “We wanted Fred because he has the perfect look, but also because he brings a great energy to the role. For us, he was always the first.”

The actor’s name was kept secret until the second trailer which revealed Uncle Fetid. For the moment, season 2 of Wednesday is not confirmed, but it’s a safe bet that the character could return in the continuation of the story.

Wednesday is available on Netflix.
