Wendy Williams
She was diagnosed with aphasia and dementia
It’s sad news that Wendy Williams’ team confirms in a press release: the former talk show host was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Several US media outlets report this unanimously.
Wendy Williams: This is what lies behind her diagnosis
It wasn’t until March 2022 that the family of Bruce Willis, 68, announced that the actor had also been diagnosed with aphasia. Aphasia is a disorder that affects language and communication skills. FTD primarily affects the frontal and temporal brain regions and is significantly reflected in changes in behavior, personality and language.
Last year, Wendy Williams underwent several tests and struggled with memory problems and erratic behavior. The press release goes on to say that the decision to share this news with the public was made thoughtfully: “Not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but also to raise awareness of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and to support the thousands of others who are going through similar circumstances.”
The news of Wendy Williams’ illness was announced shortly before the premiere of a two-part documentary about the presenter. “Where Is Wendy Williams?” is about her life and will appear on “Lifetime” on February 24th and 25th.
