(Boursier.com) — The company’s Board of Directors Wereldhave announces the finalization, on December 28, of the transaction for the transfer of its real rights over the “The Box” shopping complex (located in Ghent, Overpoortstraat 49/a) to RVM City Retail SA (a subsidiary of RVM Invest SA).
In 2011, the company was granted a long lease by the University of Ghent on the former student restaurant and completely renovated and expanded it between 2012-2014 to transform it into a student complex with 119 rooms and a commercial complex. of 4,000 m(2) GLA.
Currently, “The Box” shopping complex has four active tenants (ie Albert Heijn, Kruidvat, Jims Fitness and Yammi Yammi). The real rights to the student complex and its accessories had already been transferred in February 2020 by the company to the operator at the time.
The sale of this asset was carried out slightly above its fair value, as determined to date by
the independent expert (7,460,000 euros). This sale illustrates the company’s desire to pursue its strategy of Full Service Centers as a key activity, by investing in particular in shopping centers and retail parks of sufficient size. The income from this transfer will in fact be reinvested in the company’s current (renovation) projects.
As far as necessary, the company confirms that, if this transaction is taken into account, the weight of the “Belle-Ile” shopping complex in Liège would remain well below the legal maximum of 20% of its consolidated assets as of December 31, 2023.
