The world’s most famous hackers will soon have the spotlight on them.

From Gueules Noires to Watch Dogs

We knew this since the beginning of March thanks to Deadline: Ubisoft is bringing one of its flagship licenses back to the cinema. After Assassin’s Creed, it’s Watch Dogs which will infiltrate our dark rooms. It was said at that time that Sophie Wilde was in negotiations to play the lead role, and that the film would be produced by New Regency, with Mathieu Turi directing. Well it’s all true! Ubisoft recently published a press release to formalize everything that is going on around this adaptation.

The Watch Dogs film, produced by New Regency, will therefore include Tom Blyth (Hunger Games) and Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me) in its ranks.. As announced by Deadline a few months earlier, we will find the French director of Gueules Noires, Mathieu Turi. Christie LeBlanc (Oxygen) and Victoria Bata will handle the screenplay. As the French publisher specifies, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann of New Regency will produce the film alongside Margaret Boykin of Ubisoft Film & Television. Production is expected to begin this summer.

Live hacker

Regarding the story, no information has been communicated, except that it will be an original story. As a reminder, the Watch Dogs franchise includes three software programs to date: Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2 and Watch Dogs: Legion. These titles each feature hacker rebels who try to fight against the injustices permitted by the CTOS, a digital information system which connects entire cities on the same network. “From Aiden Pearce in Chicago to Marcus Holloway in San Francisco to the citizens of a dystopian London, members of the hacker organization DedSec use their advanced hacking apps and gadgets to undermine the oppressive reign of CTOS and discover the corruption hidden behind the system” we read on the Ubisoft website. While waiting to discover what this film has in store for us, Ubisoft invites us to (re)discover Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2 and Watch Dogs: Legion by subscribing to Ubisoft+ Premium.
