The saga Uncharted turns 15 this year. The perfect opportunity to offer a ranking of the different episodes, spin-off included.
In November 2007, owners of a PlayStation 3 discovered Uncharted: Drake’s Fortunethe first part of a saga that has become essential on Sony consoles (especially from the second episode) and which has even become a film with Tom Holland.
On the occasion of this 15th anniversary, we have decided to concoct a top games for you Uncharted, from best to worst. We remind you that all episodes are playable on PS4 and PS5 thanks to compilations (The Nathan Drake Collection and Legacy of Thieves Collection), with the exception of the one released on PlayStation Vita.
Our game ranking Uncharted
1 – Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009)
Objectively, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a worse game thanUncharted 4: A Thief’s End — which has benefited from the power of the PS4 to push the limits of the saga. Nevertheless, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would be nothing without Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which made us forget the false start of its predecessor (we will come back to this). This second Nathan Drake adventure set the tone for all sequels, in terms of visual standard, storytelling, and direction. At the time of its release, the slap was immense.
2 – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (2016)
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the pinnacle of the license Uncharted, the capital conclusion to an epic and personal chapter from the Naughty Dog studio. The PlayStation 4 allows Nathan Drake to flourish even more, with more open environments, more spectacular visual effects, incredible quality graphics and more varied gameplay phases. One can hardly better close a tetralogy, started timidly, but ending on the wheel hats.
3 – Uncharted 3: Drake’s Illusion (2011)
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Illusion could be summed up in a single breathtaking scene: Nathan who has to face enemies in a plane in full flight above a desert. It sums up everything that constitutes Uncharted, in this case sequences centered on a somewhat clumsy hero, but capable of surpassing himself to push the limits of the possible. Note that this scene is so cult that it was included in the poor film adaptation.
4 – Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (2017)
Originally, The Lost Legacy was just an extension for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Naughty Dog and Sony have finally decided to raise their ambitions a bit to make it a side adventure. We don’t find Nathan Drake there, but a 100% female duo, made up of Chloe and Nadine. We find above all the strengths of the saga, especially in terms of breathtaking panoramas. On PlayStation 5, we really take our eyes off it, as evidenced by our screenshots which make it a real photo safari. There is nothing original in The Lost Legacybut we still have a wonderful time.
5 – Uncharted: Golden Abyss (2012)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a technical feat, linked to a console that has never really been exploited by Sony. To launch the PlayStation Vita, the second portable machine in its history after the PSP, the Japanese firm commissioned a special adventure from Nathan Drake. Despite a pocket format, the benefits are largely there: not content to solicit all the technologies present in the PSVita (including its touchpad on the back), Golden Abyss is very relevant in terms of content and gameplay .
6 – Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (2007)
I will never forget the disappointment that was Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune when it was released in 2007 on PlayStation 3. It was expected to be the console’s first real big game, which had suffered from a ridiculous launch line-up and then needed a showcase to take off once and for all. . Despite some solid foundations, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was far from complete on all counts — including the graphics. Fortunately, Naughty Dog has largely caught up then.
