What are the colors that go together?

It is not always easy to match the colors of our clothes correctly. For a controlled look from head to toe, here is a short guide that will help you create outfits without fashion faux pas!

Understanding Colors

In fashion as in decoration, we use the chromatic circle which consists of 12 basic colors. This is divided into three categories:

On the color wheel, the primary colors are yellow, red and blue. These are colors that cannot be obtained by mixing other colors. If they go well together, we prefer to separate them and wear them in small touches. A red bag, a yellow t-shirt, a blue skirt etc.

Secondary colors are the result of mixing between primary colors. On the color wheel, these are purple, orange, and green. The harmony of these three colors is very pretty but their nuances are even more beautiful, so do not hesitate to take a look at the fall-winter trends!

Tertiary colors are those obtained by mixing primary and secondary colors. They are grouped into six shades: purple, turquoise, indigo, ocher, chartreuse green and vermilion. These particularly intense colors will be perfect associated with neutral tones.

The right color associations

  • Complementary colors

The best colors to pair are complementary colors. On the chromatic circle, these are the opposing colors such as red and green, purple and yellow as well as blue and orange. While the combination of these colors may seem bold to you, they actually work pretty well! This fall-winter for example, orange and fuchsia pink form a perfect combination for a style that could not be more trendy.

For those who don't want to take too many risks stylistically speaking, the monochrome look is the one for you! Monochrome means one color, so it's all about dressing with just one shade. Your outfit will therefore be all black, yellow, red, pink, brown etc. And that's good because monochrome is very trendy this season and above all it could not be more elegant!

Exercise more risky but just as stylish: the shades of colors! It consists of associating several shades of shades of the same color, such as red and burgundy or brown and camel. The monochrome is similar to the monochrome, except that it is a question here of choosing a combination of colors very close to the same tone. Each color has many shades, which allows for pretty shades of color.

How many colors can I wear?

For a successful look, the basic rule is to never wear more than three colors together. Small exception if you opt for a shades of colors since it is generally a combination of warm and cold shades, which is therefore less "aggressive" visually. If you choose primary and / or secondary colors, we advise you to soften everything with neutral and cool tones such as beige or white. A colorful style is very elegant when it is harmonious, so you avoid overloading your outfit.

Our advice for wearing colors well

  • We bet on small buttons of color to create an interesting contrast on a total black look for example. Your choice can be worn on a colorful accessory like a bag, scarf or a pair of shoes.
  • We soften her colorful and vitamin outfit with neutral tones like beige or white. This avoids having a visually overloaded look!
  • We prefer to choose our fashion pieces in a same color palette. This fall, the combination of beige, brown and camel will be perfect!
  • We associate warm and bright colors with black and / or white. Yellow goes very well with black, pink and red will go better with white.
