Next Thursday, September 1st, the big start of the 2022-2023 school year will take place. A moment awaited for some, but dreaded by others. Between stress and impatience, schoolchildren, college and high school students all asked themselves the same question: “But in which class, and with whom, will I be able to find myself?”.
Every year, it happens that some children or parents are not really satisfied with the choice made by the school, because they are not with their friends or because it complicates carpooling. If this is your case, don’t worry, you can request a class change. Be careful, however, for this, the legal guardians of the child must provide the head of the establishment with valid and defensible reasons. Which are they? We explain to you.
What are acceptable reasons for changing classes?
– The first valid reason is harassment. This is a subject taken very seriously by the national education system. In an interview with France Info, Valérie Piau said: “We must notify the head of the establishment as soon as possible, and if we do not have a very quick reaction, within the week, do not hesitate to notify above, with the inspector of national education. for the nursery primary, or with the DASEN for the others”.
– You can also declare that your family home is located far from the school in which your child is educated and that to get there you regularly opt for carpooling with other families. In this situation, the change of classes is possible so that the children can have the same schedule.
– Having solid arguments is also very important in the request for a class change. “If your child suffers from anxiety and his shrink recommends that he be with a friend, etc.… A detailed and objective reason can be a valid argument for obtaining a change of class. Without an objective reason, apart from friendship relations, the class change is unlikely to succeed.said the lawyer.
After reviewing the request, the head of the establishment has the right to choose whether or not he accepts the change of class of the child.
