What changes on April 1 for the household budget

Amounts that rise or fall, new measures take effect: the first day of the month is often marked by a series of changes affecting the household budget. This is all the more true on the 1er April, date of the annual revaluation of family benefits and many other benefits. April is, moreover, in terms of tax, the month in which the tax return is launched, but the precise date has not yet been confirmed.

  • Small increase in RSA, family allowances, activity bonus: + 0.1%

A lot of ink has been spilled over the annual revaluations of benefits in recent years, the government often having applied specific measures, such as exceptional revaluations or, conversely, freezes or under-indexations. But 2021 is marked by a certain return to normality since most of the revaluations must take place, as required by law, according to inflation.

This concerns, in particular, family benefits – family allowances, additional free choice of childcare, birth bonus, etc. -, activity bonus, active solidarity income (RSA), invalidity pensions, “AT / MP” pensions (work accidents / occupational diseases), disabled adult allowance (AAH), daily caregiver allowance (AJPA), etc.

However, nothing to celebrate for the beneficiaries of these devices because the rate of increase promises to be low: 0.1%, confirmed in World the Directorate of Social Security.

  • Disability: new exceptional revaluation of the ASI

As in 2020, the supplementary invalidity allowance (ASI) benefits from an exceptional increase in the 1er April. This social minimum is affected by certain low-income disabled people who are not yet old enough to receive the solidarity allowance for the elderly (ASPA, the former minimum old age).

In practice, the measure involves raising the monthly ceiling for resources guaranteed to its beneficiaries, from 750 euros to 800 euros for a single person and from 1312.50 euros to 1400 euros for a person in a couple.

  • More than 4% drop for regulated gas prices

After eight months of consecutive increases, regulated gas prices have fallen by 1er April, by 4.1% (excluding tax).
