What do these giant corpses mean in Elden Ring?

A passionate aboutElden Ring noticed a detail on part of the game map. One area is filled with corpses of giants, visibly impaled. They could be linked to the big bad of the expansion planned for the month of June.

Elden Ring Although it has celebrated its two years, it continues to fascinate fans in search of the ultimate secrets that the game could contain (especially since its creator suggested that one remained). With this in mind, a player shared an astonishing discovery on Reddit on April 6. He noticed that one area of the map showed a lot of deceased giants. These corpses are difficult to discern, given their small size in the image.

To see them, you must navigate to the location on the map titled “Peaks of the Giants”. If we zoom in, we come across what looks like a giant cemetery, with around ten remains littering the ground. This image sends shivers down our spine and we imagine that there was a disastrous event in this region ofElden Ring. Some have a theory on the subject, and it would be linked to the boss of the future DLC – Shadow of the Erdtree.

A story of giants impaled in Elden Ring

This discovery does not stop at one observation. Indeed, the position of the giants raises questions. Their stomach is turned towards the ground, their rear towards the sky. “ Why would it look like a chicken rotisserie? » asks Meowster696969. Everything suggests that these giants were impaled, which could link them to a character who we will soon meet: Messmer called… the Impaler.

Messmer the Impaler will play a crucial role in the expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, which will be available on June 21, 2024. Appearing in the trailer, he is a priori in exile in the Kingdom of Shadows, a new area that we can visit. According to the synopsis, it is “ a country devastated during a forgotten battle. Set on fire by Messmer’s flame. »

A few weeks ago, Messmer was linked to another secret recently discovered in Elden Ring : a symbol evoking a “ Cardinal sin “, the latter possibly being the reason for Messmer’s banishment. Perhaps he killed a few too many giants, leading to his banishment for genocide? If this hypothesis is true, then this frightening character has access to immense power, making him a possibly unprecedented threat (even stronger than Malenia?).

It is unknown when these giants appeared in the map design. Were they there all along? Were they added after an update? Opinions differ. But, in the eyes of a handful of fans, they constitute a teaser for Shadow of the Erdtree.
