If season 2 of Parasyte: The Gray is ordered by Netflix, the Korean series could provide a sequel to the cult manga Hitoshi Iwaaki.
Adapted from the eponymous manga which conquered the whole world, the series Parasyte: The Gray in a quite striking Korean version, which already seems to be winning over Netflix subscribers. But there is a problem: it only has six relatively short episodes. Season 1 is therefore swallowed up very quickly. What about a season 2?

Season 2 of Parasyte: The Gray is already looming
Netflix is never stingy in renewing Korean series, which have the merit of very often working. It must be said that the cinematographic quality is there – and so is the public. But Parasyte: The Gray was only released a few days ago, so as of now, no renewal has been announced by Netflix. However, it is already in first place, having thus surpassed The 3-Body Problem.
Another clue: season 2 seems to have already been considered; we easily understand that the series was never intended to stop there. This is evidenced by the end of season 1, with the appearance of a particularly important new character. The latter is not unknown to fans of the manga, since it is Shinichi Izumi. This is the original hero in Hitoshi Iwaaki’s work. In the manga, he is attacked by a parasite, but manages to limit the infection to his right hand: he must therefore coexist with Migi, his parasite, via this limb. In the Korean series, the new heroine, Su-in, is parasitized more widely, throughout her body, so cohabitation is more complete.
Anyway, in the final episode, Choi Jun-kyung learns of a visit from a “Japanese journalist” named Shinichi Izumi — the wink continues until he extends his right hand to her , with a long shot. But, in the event of season 2, the arrival of the character would probably not be limited to a simple cameo.
Remember that at the end of the six episodes, the story is far from resolved. The parasite invasion is still happening, and Seol Kang-woo has just been recruited by Gray Division. As for Su-in, she finally cohabits completely with her parasite, Heidi, which makes her stronger than ever: she could also become an asset for Choi and the division.
With the arrival of Shinichi Izumi, the story could take a more international turn – the parasites as a threat to all of humanity, beyond Korean territory (which would still remain the main setting).
A season 2 that fills in the gaps?
But, above all, this assumes that Parasyte: The Gray also constitutes a sequel, a sequel, from the original manga, set in the same universe. Because this version of Shinichi Izumi’s character is much older than the student that fans knew – we even learn that he became a journalist. In addition to providing a new story, the Korean series could, in a season 2, try to catch up with the wagons to provide an explanation of what becomes of the hero. This storyline path seems all the more possible since the series team received the approval of Hitoshi Iwaaki in character for the narrative adaptations created for this version.
Netflix seems to hold the keys to a new sci-fi universe with this Korean adaptation of Parasyte. This is why season 1 gives the impression of laying the foundations, in six episodes, for a season 2 that is probably even more monumental, in the confrontation between humanity and parasites.
