What documents should I collect for my children, to help them manage my estate?

You may have already arranged your funeral, left wills and instructions for organ donation, but have you thought about helping loved ones settle your estate?

Using a notary is mandatory for any estate of at least 5,000 euros. Depending on the nature of the heritage and the heirs, one or more deeds will be drafted using documents provided by the latter. To spare them complicated research, gather the documents in a file – paper or digital – easily accessible.

Which ? Photocopy of your family books, your marriage contract, the divorce judgment, a gift between spouses, your will, the list of financial institutions holding funds on your behalf – a bank account statement (RIB ) is welcome – and copies of your life insurance contracts.

But also the address and number of all your children, or elements allowing them to be contacted if you have lost sight of them, a copy the articles of association of companies with which you are associated, and the balance sheet of these, if applicable, your car registration document, your tax and property tax notice, the list of organizations paying you a pension, the name of your mutual insurance company.

Or any document making it possible to trace the donations or inheritances from which you have benefited.

If you are an owner, add a copy of your real estate title deeds, the contact details of the trustee, the amortization table for your loans. This list is not exhaustive. Also remember to list your computer codes, digital identities, passwords, etc. (for access to your Impot.gouv account, your accounts on social networks, even your bitcoins).
