The term “boomers” describes people who were born at the time of the “baby boom”. This applies to the period from the mid-1950s to the late 1960s. The youngest people from this generation are now around 60 years old.
However, the term “boomers” is no longer used simply to describe people of this generation in a neutral manner. Instead, “Boomer” is a stereotypical description of outdated views. This meaning has developed mainly through the meme format “OK Boomer”.

What does “yeet” mean?
“Ok Boomer” is used to respond to comments from older people who express themselves negatively towards Millennials, Generation Y and Generation Z by criticizing the Fridays For Future movement or demonizing apps like TikTok.
That means something like: “Your outdated views don’t interest me, stop making yourself important with your life experience”. In this respect, this meme often has a funny use on the one hand, but it also repeatedly leads to conflicts between the generations.
How do you use “Boomer”
The format “Ok Boomer” or just “Boomer” can therefore be used for people aged 60 who have traditional and sometimes narrow-minded attitudes towards the developments of the younger generation. If you have the impression that a person only disagrees with you because they see themselves as older and more experienced and not based on arguments, you can use the expression.
The expression “boomer” can also be used for people who often make statements like “everything was better in the past” and who cannot understand the digital developments in the smartphone sector. However, you should be careful that none of the people addressed feels triggered.
The use of “Boomer”, especially in connection with “Ok Boomer”, is also criticized from many sides, since the different generations are in a direct conflict and nobody reacts to arguments anymore, only the view of their own generation as feels right.
