While the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, announced major changes in the coming months concerning national education, the brand new Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, continued the announcements this Saturday, January 20, 2024. It was during ‘an intervention in front of 150 people in the Rhône that the politician announced changes in sexuality education courses in schools and colleges in France through an education program for emotional, relational life and sexual.
Indeed, after having denounced that the time which must be devoted to this learning “at least three annual sessions” is not respected “in almost all cases», the Prime Minister indicates that he wants this to change. He states that the “respect for the integrity of the body» must be able to be taught to primary school students while sex education to middle and high school students. He adds that he mandated the Higher Programs Council to work on a proposal on this subject before leaving the Ministry of National Education.

A need to “clarify the program”
If this new measure will be applied from the next school year in September 2024 in all National Education establishments, Gabriel Attal also indicated that he wanted “clarify the program”, because some families “are not necessarily comfortable with certain things that are said during these teachings“.
The Prime Minister also affirmed that he wishes to put in place “new devices to collect speech» like what was set up in particular in eleven establishments in the town of Clichy by the Les Papillons association to allow primary and secondary school pupils to write what they cannot say directly (school harassment, discomfort, attacks, etc.).
