Fans of the saga What have we done to the Good Lord?, produced by Philippe de Chauveron, meet on TF1, Sunday January 14, 2023 at 9:10 p.m., to see or rewatch the second part, What else have we done to the Good Lord? Released in 2019, the film tells the adventures of Claude (Christian Clavier) and his wife Marie Verneuil (Chantal Lauby), parents of Isabelle (Frédérique Bel), Odile (Julia Piaton), Ségolène (Émilie Caen) and Laure (Élodie Fontan), returning from their world tour in the respective families of their sons-in-law, Rachid (Medi Sadoun), David ( Ary Abittan), Chao (Frédéric Chau) and Charles (Noom Diawara). Family relations will turn sour when their four daughters announce their intention to leave France to settle abroad… The comedy, nominated for the 2020 César in the audience category, generated no less than 6.7 million admissions at the box office, making it the fourth biggest hit that year behind The Lion King notably, which remains half as much as the first part of the franchise, with its 12.3 million entries.

Christian Clavier’s career finds a new lease of life
Like many comedies, What else have we done to the Good Lord? is based on a cast of well-identified and popular cinema stars. Firstly, we find Christian Clavier, revealed in the troupe of Splendid at the theater, whose career found a new lease of life thanks to this schoolboy comedy, after the bitter failure of We do not choose our family (2011), his first film as director. His fictional wife, Chantal Lauby, ex-member of Les Nuls, also played Marie Verneuil in the third part of the franchise, What have we all done to the Good Lord? A film marked by heated controversy, after the indictment of Ary Abittan, one of the main actors, for rape.
