What if drinking tea regularly made it possible to live longer?

As indicated by a study published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine and relayed by The Guardian, drinking this beverage in large quantities and regularly would reduce the risk of mortality for consumers. People who drink two or more cups of black tea a day have a 9 to 13% lower risk of death than others, according to scientists.

The study also states that tea drinkers have a lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, ischemic heart disease and stroke. Black tea in particular is very rich in antioxidants, such as flavonoids and polyphenols, which reduce inflammation in the body and stress, thus preventing the appearance of certain pathologies. The researchers further indicate that neither the temperature of the tea, nor the addition of milk or sugar, changed the result obtained.

On the other hand, the link between black tea and the longevity of life expectancy is to be qualified because the overall way of life can enter into the equation. Researcher Fernando Rodriguez Artalejo, professor of preventive medicine and public health at the Autonomous University of Madrid, explains that however, the study did not definitively establish that tea consumption was the cause of the decline in mortality as it could not rule out that it was due to other health factors.
