QR codes may not be completely new to you. You have surely seen them on a restaurant table, in a store, on a poster in the street or on transport, on your digital travel certificate, or on your train ticket. Recognizable by their little black graphic with squares at the ends, they have become commonplace in our daily lives. What are they for ? How to use it? We explain to you.
What is a QR code for?
A QR code brings together a lot of information that needs to be read quickly. Behind this icon can hide a URL (web address), a text, a payment platform, a link to a social network, an image, a music, or even an application. It works like a redirect to digital content, without you having to type anything into your search bar, click a link, or log in. If you scan the QR code on a restaurant table, for example, you will have access to its menu and will be able to order without having it in print in your hands. Likewise, you can scan a QR code in a museum or an exhibition and access all the information about a work directly on your smartphone, in just a few seconds. Be careful, however, to check the URL that appears before continuing the operation at the risk of falling on a malicious link.
How to use a QR code?
To access the information hidden behind a QR code, all you have to do is scan it from a smartphone. To do this, you have several options. From an Apple device (iPhone, iPad), all you have to do is open your phone's camera and put it in front of the pattern without moving. A notification will then appear and invite you to follow the link hidden behind the code. If you have an Android device, reading codes from the camera is not always automatic. If it does not work, it will have to be activated in the settings. Alternatively, you can scan a QR code from your main screen if you are using Google. To do this, long press your home button. This will open the wizard for you. Among the features available, Google Lens allows you to scan QR codes. The last option is still to download an application provided for this purpose among the best referenced of your different stores.
