fun, news, tips… what else?

There are many presupposed aphrodisiac benefits attributed to plants. The latest that is circulating in discussions is the damiana.

Damiana is a small shrub belonging to the Passifloraceae family. It is native to the West Indies of South America and Central America and therefore grows in warm regions of the globe. According to history, the Mayans used damiana as an aphrodisiac, but also to relax.

The Spanish colonists then reappropriated this plant for the same virtues. Indeed, damiana allowed men to fight impotence problems and women to reach orgasm more easily.

The latter also used it to reduce their menstrual pain, their hot flashes during menopause and their vaginal dryness during sexual intercourse. Beyond its aphrodisiac effects, Damiana also has a euphoric effect that can last between 1 and 2 hours.

In infusion or capsules

How to consume it? First of all, it should be taken sparingly. 1 teaspoon of dried damiana infused for 10 minutes in 25 cl of water, once a day is enough. You can also take it in the form of capsules with a dosage indicated by your pharmacist or doctor.

Please note that Damiana must be prescribed by professionals and must not be taken for prolonged periods. Like ginger, damiana does not have miracle properties. It is by relaxing that it can facilitate sexual intercourse. If you are experiencing more persistent problems, such as vaginismus or erectile dysfunction, it is better to call on sexologists and/or psychologists.

However, it is not an obligation. Each and everyone lives their sexuality as they see fit and can go through moments of hollowness without having to feel abnormal.
