The new electoral map has a QR code, which leads to an official website. It contains nothing else.
The two rounds of the 2022 presidential election are held on April 10 and 24. If you are registered on the electoral lists, you have recently received a new electoral card. Your voter number is highlighted here – it is a unique identifier, which is used in particular for proxies. But a more notable novelty is the addition of a QR code on the front of the card.
A QR code is a visual pictogram that you just have to scan with your smartphone’s camera to be redirected, in your mobile’s browser, to a specific website. What is the purpose of the one that is now present on your electoral map?
The QR code of the electoral map only refers to a site
This QR code will not contain any personal information about you. Its use is also not the same as for the vaccine pass, because it will not have to be presented to anyone before or after the vote. The pictogram is for practical and practical use, and for individual use, since it merely refers to a specific website: www.elections.interieur.gouv.fr
The functionalities of this site, in particular in the “My procedures” tab, allow you to:
- Check your electoral situation to date (a form to be completed tells you if you are present on the electoral list);
- Register online on the electoral lists (you have until March 2, 2022, here’s how);
- Identify the polling station where you will have to vote;
- Prepare a proxy request if you cannot be present on election day (you can also check to whom you have given proxy or who has given you proxy).
You will also find some educational tabs listing the different types of elections in France. A “Results” tab can be used, after the polls, to consult the results for each round.
