It is a strong expectation of the victims: a month after the publication of the shock report of the Sauvé commission on child crime in the Church, the bishops meeting in Lourdes announced Monday ” gestures “ and one “Timeline” of measures to fight against pedocriminality in the Church.
The 120 bishops must adopt these decisions in a vote at 9 a.m. behind closed doors, at the conclusion of several days of work. The president of the French Bishops’ Conference, Mr.gr de Moulins-Beaufort, will speak at 10:30 a.m. during his closing speech. A press conference should then take place at 2 p.m.
The independent commission on sexual abuse in the Church (Ciase) shook the whole institution by estimating at 330,000 the number of people over 18 years of age who have been subjected to sexual violence since 1950, when they were minors, from clerics, religious or people in connection with the Church.
