What to do about boredom – 13 tips against boring days

What to do about boredom?

Boredom in itself is not a bad thing and can even promote creativity. Nevertheless, we often only know boredom from rainy holidays in childhood – now smartphones, social media services, streaming services and the like keep us busy. If you need a break or if you feel listless at the moment, our tips are guaranteed to help against boredom.

What to do about boredom? 13 tips that can help

Board games

Play with your partner or friend Board games! Because honestly: How long has it been since we sat down and played games – and not on the smartphone ?! Card games are just as fun and if there is no one to play with: you can set and play patience yourself.

to record a video

Smartphones usually have a camera – become the director of your own little film! The story is irrelevant: whether it's a city festival, a soccer game played by the village club or your own children in the garden. Try out different angles and functions.

Create photo album

How many photos have each of us actually saved on the smartphone? A lot probably. Pick the most beautiful pictures – from vacation, Christmas, last birthday or walk – print them or have them printed and create one Photo album or a nice collage. Or you can have a photo book made and put together the order yourself. The memories associated with the photos will make your boredom go away in no time.

Listen to music or a podcast

Boredom can also be a great way just relax while listening to your favorite music or an interesting podcast. Or the audio book that has been stored on your smartphone for so long and is waiting to be heard (of course you can just read a book!).

Alternatively, an occupation with the Disney Plus streaming service would also be an option. From March 24, 2020 you can stream over 500 films and 350 series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic as well as 25 exclusive Disney Plus Originals. So there is no boredom. You can find the subscription here.

Learning language

You don't have to run to the next language school and register for a course. There are many ways to learn a language on the Internet. Vocabulary and short sentences can also be learned with an app – maybe you already need that on your next trip?

Plan a short trip

Find a new travel destination, whether short trip or a long vacation on the dream beach is unimportant. Where have you always wanted to go? What did you want to see or experience in your life? Let your thoughts wander, research how much budget you would need, where you could stay, etc.

Explore where you live

How long do you live in a city and know only a few corners of it? Join a guided tour and get to know your city from a new perspective. In many larger cities, so-called free walking tours often take place, in which everyone can participate for a small donation.

To dance

Dancing has positive effects on our health – at least if you exercise it regularly. Sometimes just having fun is enough!

Go for a walk in nature

Go out into nature, either on foot or go on a bike tour and enjoy the peace in the park, at the lake or in the forest!

Mucking out

When the weather is bad, it is not necessarily fun to walk outside in the rain – but you can also use your boredom at home: Tidy up your closet and sort out parts that you no longer wear. Place these things e.g. B. on online marketplaces to sell them.

And how long have the papers been stacked on the desk? Sort your papers and muck them out thoroughly. With this you do something against your boredom and feel great afterwards!

Create bullet journal

With the Bullet Journal you bring order and structure to your (daily) tasks. You can live out creatively in the design. All you need is a blank notebook, pen (s) and possibly a ruler. Here's how you could design your Bullet Journal:

Set up bucket list

Such a bullet journal is useful for keeping an overview on a daily or weekly basis. A bucket list is suitable for long-term goals or life goals. You can use your boredom to worry about what goals you want to set in life. They can be both private and professional. The following questions serve as a guide – but are not a must:

  • What do I want to (still) achieve in life?
  • Which sport do I want to try again?
  • What skills do I want to acquire?
  • What do I really want to experience?
  • Which countries do I really want to travel to?
  • What do I want to achieve professionally?

Write your goals as specifically as possible, it is easier for you to track them – and achieve them.

Such a bucket list helps you to see what is important in life. However, this does not mean that you take a look every day and put unnecessary pressure on yourself to process everything immediately. The bucket list does not have to contain everything you want to have done until the end of your life. The list can be customized:

  • 40 things I want you to do by my 40th birthday
  • 33 films I really want to see
  • Bucket list for spring / summer 2019
  • 30 places that I definitely want to travel to
  • New Years Bucket List
