What to remember from the first reception of political forces by Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Macron is in charge. Following the legislative elections, the presidential majority is relative and very weak in the National Assembly. To avoid the blockage of the Assembly, the Head of State met the leaders of the various political forces in the country on Tuesday. No less than six politicians have been received since Tuesday morning, with meetings lasting around an hour.

“We remain in the opposition in a determined way”

Olivier Faure, the first secretary of the Socialist Party, did not emerge subjugated from his interview with the president: “In front of me, what could he say? He was not going to say ‘you are wrong on all the subjects’, he had to listen. And then after what he says, I don’t know. Maybe, in reality, it’s a staging that just serves his communication, that allows you to say ‘I “I listened, I searched”, and then afterwards, it will not be. It’s a possibility”, he explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

Olivier Faure is skeptical just like the boss of the Republicans. “We remain in the opposition in a determined way”, reports Christian Jacob, for whom there is no question of entering into a logic of coalition.

A meeting with the managers of EELV and LFI

If Emmanuel Macron has still not spoken, François Bayrou, his MoDem ally, can be an indicator of the president’s state of mind: “Faced with the very great difficulties that await us, we must approach as close as possible of national unity. It is by working together in debates that are respectful, open, even if they are heated, that we will do what the citizens expect of us”.

A national union that seems far away. Emmanuel Macron will continue his consultations on Wednesday morning with in particular the leaders of Europe Ecologie Les Verts and La France insoumise.
