Containment extended beyond April 15?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions. Many wonder if, once again, the confinement will be extended or if a gradual deconfinement is already possible in the coming days. Concerning the overload of hospitals and the fear of the lack of means, Edouard Philipe wanted to underline "the scientific and technical prowess" of these last days, recalling that 550 patients were ventilated and intubated last weekend. He thus shared the primordial wishes of the President of the Republic concerning the care of patients with covid-19: to avoid saturation of hospitals. He explains: "We must ensure that admissions to resuscitation never exceed capacity" before adding "My number 1 priority as Prime Minister is to smile and be able to meet demand" concerning the consumption of products necessary for resuscitation.
"Our goal is to increase our testing capacity"
The idea, for Edouard Philippe, is "to go towards more systematic and more numerous tests in establishments where we know that they are more fragile in the face of the virus." Thus, the EPHAD could have priority over the supply of screening tests: "Our objective is to ensure that we increase our testing capacity, whether virological or serological"
Towards a postponement of the municipal elections?
The fate of the second round of the municipal elections will no doubt materialize officially in May, when the government will be able to know if the elections can be held next June: "If we note, in May, that it is not possible to organize the second round of municipal elections in June, which many observers and actors in political life sense or feel … If we find that this is not possible, then we will have to postpone the elections . Maybe in October, maybe after. "
Are we going to have to repeat the first round if the elections are postponed until the fall? The question really arises because, according to Edouard Phillipe: "In the 30,143 municipalities where the elections allowed the composition of a municipal council from the first round, there is no question of going back on these results. If for the 5 000 remaining municipalities it is necessary to organize the second round not in June but much later, then it will very probably have to reorganize the two rounds of these municipal elections.
