As "The Bridgertons Chronicle" enters its third week at the top of Netflix's sights, we tell you all you need to know about the second installment.
In just three weeks, The Bridgertons Chronicle, produced by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix, has slipped into the platform's Top 10 most watched series, with more than 63 million views. Thanks to its plot which mixes certain codes of Gossip Girl in the era of Jane Austen, all served by endearing characters, the series that excites as much as it annoys will be back for a season 2.
What date ?
While nothing has yet been decided on the release date of the highly anticipated season 2, we know that filming is scheduled for 2021. According to the media outlet Qeekly production, the sequel is set to be filmed in Uxbridge, England, starting in March. But with the coronavirus crisis, nothing is certain about the official date.
What cast?
As for the distribution, the actors of the first installment of the series should all be there. Daphne performer Phoebe Dynevor has previously shared his eagerness to share more scenes with Jonathan Bailey, who plays his brother Anthony. "I want to see Daphne involved in Anthony's love life, he who has been so involved in hers", she confided in an interview for the site SHE. For his part, Regé-Jean Page (who plays Simon Basset) wants to observe the development of his story with Daphne. "I think this love is something that is going to evolve. They have a lot to accomplish together, and it will be fun to watch them do it.", he explained to TV Guide. Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington), meanwhile, is hoping for the opportunity to deepen her character. The actress said she felt like Penelope's personality had only been touched on "surface". One thing is certain, Julie Andrews will remain the narrator of the series, Lady Whistledown.
What intrigue?
The next season should leave Simon and Daphne slightly, to focus on the latter's little brother, Anthony. The action should thus revolve around his love affairs, and the young man's very cold vision of marriage. Convinced that he must unite out of duty, and not out of love, he will even see himself rejected the woman he loves. If the young man will turn to one of the Sheffield girls, hidden feelings could well come to complicate everything.
