The First Names Official has published its 2022 ranking of the first names that will be the most anticipated.
As the children return to school this Thursday, September 2, Stéphanie Rapoport and Claire Tabarly Perrin are publishing the 2022 edition of “L’Officiel des prénoms”, the reference guide for all parents in search of the ideal first name. And this year 2022 will be placed under the sign of short names.
In the top 20, we find first names related to nature. In boys, “We will have to rely on Loup, Zéphyr, Marin or Orion”, says Stéphanie Rapoport in an interview for Le Parisien. And in the girls, it will be Jade, Ambre, Rose, Iris and Agathe. Other names a little more retro will come back in force. We can therefore find Adam, Jules or Gabin or Josephine. “We can also expect the arrival, in the coming months, of many little Josephine in maternity wards, on the sidelines of Joséphine Baker’s upcoming entry into the Pantheon and for its retro character”, informs the co-author. With all the news for this year 2021, some parents may be tempted to choose the names of publicized personalities. We could therefore meet Archies, like the son of Harry and Meghan, or Elons, in reference to Elon Musk, the co-founder of Tesla.
Emma and Gabriel still in the top 5
The top 5 announced for little girls consists of Jade, Emma, Louise, Mia and Alice. Among the boys, Léo, Gabriel, Raphaël, Arthur and Louis will be the big winners. As we can see, Emma and Gabriel have been dethroned but they are still resisting and should again be among the most popular names in 2022. “They will certainly continue to decline because they have already held up for an exceptionally long period”, Stéphanie Rapoport analysis. The future parents will therefore be spoiled for choice.
