What’s new in Minecraft Deep Dark with the latest experimental snapshot

That brand new experimental Minecraft snapshot is, as its name suggests, experimental. It will therefore not be not downloadable directly via the game launcher but separatelyby downloading the version directly in the official Mojang patch note or by following this link. Released this Thursday, it brings many new features, in connection with the Deep Dark, high point of the upcoming version 1.19. Whether it’s the new Warden, the Sculk, the Ancient Cities or even a new enchantment, we have here our first glimpses of these new features that will soon join Minecraft.

The Deep Dark:

The Deep Dark therefore joins Minecraft in this snapshot. It’s about of an underground biome composed of Sculk, one of the other novelties of the update. Sculk is a reacting substance to sounds and Exp. Whenever a monster or animal dies near the Deep Dark, if there is a Sculk Catalyst nearby (8 blocks) it collects the Exp dropped by them to proliferate and expand. It also represents a way to store Exp, since the blocks of Sculk, once broken, return the Exp which made it possible to create them.

In the Deep Dark, you will also find in addition to the Sculk, the Sculk Veinss, purely decorative but also Sculk Sensors, detecting sound to transform it into a redstone signal but also the Sculk Catalyst, allowing the propagation of the Sculk as well as the Sculk Shriekers, calling the new monster, the Warden.

As for the Warden, this imposing new monster acts as an obstacle to be avoided more than anything else, dealing monstrous damage and having a lot of life. It will therefore be very difficult to overcome. This monster detects nearby players and creatures using hearing and ambient sounds. If you crouch, however, he shouldn’t hear you. but will sniff at regular intervals to approach your location. It only appears when a Sculk Shrieker is activated, and if undisturbed, will disappear within a minute.

The Warden can also detect players passing too close to it, so pay attention to your distance. Additionally, it will grant nearby players a whole new effect, Darkness, which will reduce the player’s field of vision, plunging them into darkness.

The Ancient Cities:

These new monuments appear very low in caves in Deep Dark biomes. These are huge cities, where you can find many loots in chests by exploring thembe careful though to the Wardens who may appear. To move within these Cities, the corridors will nevertheless be cwool openings, preventing sound from being transmitted to the Sculk Shriekers. These Cities will also be a good way to get reinforced Deepslatepresent in their center, new block very interesting because being resistant to explosions but also movable with pistons unlike obsidian.

You will also be able to find the brand new enchantment Swift Sneak within these Ancient Cities. It will have 3 levels and will allow you move faster while crouching, when applied to your boots. To compare, Swift Sneak III will allow you to move forward at walking speed while crouched.

Here is the list of new features brought by this brand new experimental snapshot of Minecraft. This only bodes well for 1.19, the mechanics being offered to us are already well advanced. There is still a long time before we have 1.19 in our hands, so these new features can only come even more developed than now. If you want to test this snapshot, you can find it by following this link. You will not be able to launch your old worlds with this new snapshotbut when 1.19 comes out, it will be possible.
