Great news for all WhatsApp users, Meta finally lets you send your photos with the original dimensions, without the app applying too much compression.
Several months ago now, WhatsApp started working on a feature that would allow you to send your photos in their original quality, and the company has just taken a big step in that direction. Some lucky beta testers who installed the latest versions of WhatsApp on Android and iOS were pleasantly surprised to find that they could now share their snaps in high definition.
This new feature allows users to share higher quality photos while maintaining their original dimensions. Users who have updated to the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for iOS (23.11.0.76) and Android (2.23.12.13) may already notice a new option in their settings that allows them to manage the quality of photos sent.

WhatsApp will send your photos in their original dimensions
When selecting a photo with large dimensions, users should now see an option to choose a better quality before sending it. However, it is important to note that this feature does not send photos in their original quality, because light compression is still applied. However, the dimensions of the image are preserved, resulting in better visual clarity.
By choosing the “high quality” option, the photo is marked as such and a new label is automatically added to the message bubble. This lets the recipient understand that the photo was sent using the HD feature.
It should be noted that this functionality is currently limited to images shared in conversations. Sending higher quality videos is not supported, unless they are sent as documents. Also, the feature is not available for sharing photos via status updates.
The ability to send HD photos is currently being tested by a select group of beta testers, but WhatsApp plans to expand this feature to more users in the coming weeks.
