WhatsApp chats can now also be transferred from Android phones to iPhone, announces Mark Zuckerberg. But for the time being there are still a few restrictions.
- Until now, it has not been possible to transfer WhatsApp chats from Android phone to iPhone.
- That is now changing. For the time being, the feature is only available for messenger beta testers.
- There are other restrictions as well.
So far, anyone who has switched from an Android cell phone to an iPhone has not been able to transfer their WhatsApp chats. For a long time, the messenger did not allow data transfer across the operating system boundaries. This has only been possible since October 2021 when switching from iPhone to Android, but now it also works the other way around, says Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
We’re adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption. This is a top requested feature. We launched the ability switch from iPhone–>Android last year, and now adding Android–>iPhone as well.
