A little love for calls on WhatsApp
This year, Meta has made a huge effort around WhatsApp. Doped with new features, the instant messaging application has been specially improved in its UWP version on Windows 11 over the updates. After a modernization of its interface or the removal of the need to connect its smartphone, today it is the calls that are in the spotlight.
The beta version of WhatsApp for Windows 10 and 11 indeed offers a new shortcut in the left column of the application. Between the “Chats” and “Status” entries is now a “Calls” entry. As often, the rollout is gradual, and not all users will likely see it at the same time. But since the illustration image for this article is from the app’s official page on the Windows Store, it shouldn’t take too long.
One menu to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them
Like a classic smartphone application for making calls, clicking on this menu mainly allows you to display the history of audio and video calls. The date, duration and status of these calls (missed, for example) are displayed, while buttons allow you to call (in audio or video) or send a written message on WhatsApp to the contact concerned.
Nothing really revolutionary then, but a practical addition for those who mainly go through the Meta application to make calls. Especially since a search engine is also present in this menu to search for a particular call or to start a new one. The method is not necessarily much faster than searching for a contact and then calling them from the chat window, but it has the merit of being (soon) there.
