  • Beta update 2.22.17.12 introduced a bug for WhatsApp on Android devices.
  • The button showing that you have been mentioned in groups has been permanently displayed.
  • The bug is apparently fixed if you update WhatsApp to beta update 2.22.17.13.

For WhatsApp on Android there was recently the beta update 2.22.17.12, which not only added a useful group function, but also a bug.

In group chats, the button appears again and again, which shows you that you have been addressed or mentioned directly in the course of the conversation. Normally, tapping the button will automatically take you to the relevant message.

However, after the beta update, the problem is that this button is permanently visible for no apparent reason, so you cannot be sure whether you have been mentioned or not.

Bug fixed with new update

However, the beta update 2.22.17.13 fixes this bug. So if you are affected by the bug, updating WhatsApp to the latest version should do the trick.

By the way, the test updates for Android and iOS differed from each other, so some new functions and bugs only affect Android or only iOS. We’ll tell you which feature will soon also be available for WhatsApp on iPhones.
